Coonamble is a determined and dynamic township on the banks of the Castlereagh River. The town of Coonamble,160 km north of Dubbo, is the main service centre of Coonamble Shire, servicing villages such as Gulargambone and Quambone and is home to multipurpose health service that integrates a range of health services; rural support services; shops; as well as

primary and high schools and a TAFE.

It lies at the heart of what is a productive agricultural region based on sustainable dryland livestock grazing and cropping industries. The Shire’s prosperity is built around its diversified agricultural income and rural industries which includes two large beef cattle feedlots.
